Essential Oils - Wintergreen

Wintergreen historically has been used for joint and muscular problems, and is listed by the British Herbal Pharmacopeia as useful for rheumatoid arthritis. Wintergreen can be used interchangeably with sweet birch oil, both being almost 100% made of methyl salicylate.

The oil is extracted by steam distillation of the leaf that has been previously soaked in warm water. The plant is native to North America and most of the oil is produced in the USA.

SAFETY DATA – Unless extensively diluted the oil can be toxic, an irritant, and sensitizing.
